hey ya
One upon a time there was a Dischord band named Faraquet. They were criminally underrated. They broke up and are some percentage of Medications now. If you like Fender guitars and spazzy drums you’ll love the fuck out of this.

get
This is the best hardcore band around. They do a cover of “For Want Of” by Rites Of Spring, if that means anything. They toured and played constantly in 2006 and 2007, and I hope they keep it up this year.

V0, none of that 192 shit
I can’t listen to this guy’s voice for long enough to review this disc. Somehow “In Return” was great, but their full lengths have been completely mediocre. I’ve known these dudes for years so I really hope Hydrahead makes them rich and famous, but I’ll stick to listening to Floor and Tyranny Of Shaw.

I played a show with these guys about 2 years ago and they were lame. They dressed in all white and asked for money to stay in a hotel. I didn’t realize they were on the verge of blowing up. I also had no idea that so many 16 year old girls lived in my city until they played. Hordes of them, man.
Anyway this album isn’t bad. Its good to take a nap to or something.

press this
I get tired of this guy’s voice after 2 or 3 songs. I think he has 4 notes in his whole bag of notes. I appreciate the yelling but even that drains on you after a while. Anyway here it is, brand new full length from these dudes in 320cbr. It sounds very good and I’m sure everybody is going to put it on their top 10 of 2008 lists that nobody reads. You got it here first.

If you don’t already have this you’re fucked. Good quality (V0). Their new stuff sucks.

Oh shit
Capsule’s last.fm page is a shame. I imagine when they started out they didn’t think their little hardcore band was going to be competing with some asian techno bologna. They’ll never be able to add their music to a last.fm player :( Robotic Empire is pissed this leaked. Oh yeah this shreds, especially the end of track 4.

Get it
Antlers have some dudes from a lot of bad screamo bands. Luckily nobody screams in this band, and nobody cries. Its rather happy. Theres lots of guitar noodling and lots of distorted bass and lots of snare drum rolls, but it doesn’t sound like a typical “post rock” band. This is just instrumental rock and roll.

Get on it
This album has some special feature where, once you start listening, you don’t want to listen to anything else until the whole thing is over.

Be square
Best punk record of 2007? Its possible. Everything about this recording is noisy in all the right ways. The vocals are slurred in a deep gruff, the bass is dirty, the guitars are raunchy, the drums sound like they got slammed to analog tape, and there aren’t any clap-a-longs. You know how Alkaline Trio’s Goddamnit was sort of perfectly recorded for its sound? This is the same way.

How to guarantee a spot on The Fest in Gainesville:
1. Start an atonal pop-punk band that has no defining characteristics
2. Write a song called “1 2 3 Fest!”
You see, there are 2 big reasons to start a band. You either have amazing songs in your head and want the world to hear them, or you want to entertain people with music that might not be original but is still fun. Now I love pop punk with gritty vocals, but for some reason bands like this seem more like U2 than Hot Water Music. I think “controlled” is the word I want to use?
